Sunday, 2/19 ... massaaaaahge

The morning was cool and gray, and suddenly burst into a rainy downpour.  Our balcony is recessed and stayed perfectly dry, but it was clear that the rain was just POUNDING down.  Rain had been forecast for several days now, and finally it was here.

Today was bacon and eggs for breakfast, flanked with sturdy sourdough toast, all useful in fighting off the gloom.  It was a bit of a challenge to figure out the best usage of the limited assortment of cookware, but we won out in the end and enjoyed some of yesterday's salsa along with cream-cheese studded scrambled eggs.

We planned our big breakfast in part to take advantage of a buy one, get one free massage special.  Silly to do that on a full tummy!  In order to report in the proper, relaxed frame of mind everyone busied herself working down her personal "to-do" list.  Our room was even cleaned early, everything aligned.

We'd been told to report to the Spatium (yep, Spa-tium) a half-hour in advance of our appointment time, in our bathing suits.  Seems one WILL enjoy the jacuzzi, the sauna, the steam room, and/or the Swiss shower (12 shower heads, four vertically on each of three walls) for half-an-hour before relaxing completely.  We opted for the jacuzzi, though a fellow-soaker did take a plunge into the bracing cold pool before hitting the Swiss shower and THEN the sauna.  We just couldn't put that much effort out and still feel relaxed.

At the appointed time, each of us was approached by our assigned masseusse and guided to a tranquil room for some serious body work.  A heated pad was laid on my back at first, then later once I had turned over, hot booties and a warm eye mask were applied.  Working around all this was a pair of talented hands and arms ... a VERY well-invested hour.

Back home, we whipped up a nice salad and reheated the remaining turkey meatballs ... a dose of guacamole & some chips, and we were set for dinner, and another lovely sunset over mountains and ocean.  Sweet dreams!
